Considering its importance, the Zohar has been relatively inaccessible to the English reader. There is plenty of stuff out there (the reader is invited to view Don Karr\’s excellent Notes on the Zohar in English) but not a decent, modern and complete scholarly edition. The book is huge and written in a medieval cod-Aramaic by a Spanish Jew, so the translation problems are formidable. The impending release of the next volume of Daniel Matt\’s edition is very welcome news. I am going to need a bigger bookcase.
